Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was looking forward to today's game against the Tennessee Titans - his first against his former team.
"This one meant a lot to me," Brown said after the game, according to John Clark of NBCS Philadelphia. "I'd be lying to you to say I didn't circle this game."
The Titans traded Brown to the Eagles in April after the two sides failed to agree to a long-term contract extension.
"To be honest, it's been personal since the trade," Brown said, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. "I stated that's where I wanted to be."
The 25-year-old spent three seasons in Tennessee, solidifying himself as one of the NFL's best wide receivers. He had 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns in 43 games with the Titans.
The veteran wideout was spectacular in the Eagles' 35-10 win over the Titans, hauling in eight catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
Brown caught a 40-yard pass from quarterback Jalen Hurts early in the second quarter that was initially ruled a touchdown but was later called back. After the play, Brown took a towel and started hitting the goalpost.
"Today, I'm gonna give you this whooping. But I still love you," Brown said when asked about the meaning behind the celebration, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP.
Hurts dominated the Titans' defense on Sunday, throwing for 380 yards and three touchdowns - two of them to Brown. After the game, Hurts was vocal about how much Brown means to him and the team.
"I think the whole world knew what it meant to him," Hurts said, according to Shorr-Parks. "I'm happy he put on a show. He's a special player and good friend."
The Eagles are now 11-1 and will take on the New York Giants in Week 14.
