NOW. RIGHT NOW AT NOON, FORT DODGE POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR THE BODY OF A NEWBORN LAST WEEK. POLICE STARTED SEARCHING FOR THE BODY AFTER A REPORT OF A BABY’S HOMICIDE LAST MONTH. KCCI ANDREW MOLLENBECK IS LIVE IN FORT DODGE WITH AN UPDATE ON THE SEARCH. ANDREW. ALEX, WE’RE OUTSIDE THE LANDFILL ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF FORT DODGE. AND FOR TWO DAYS, THIS WAS THE FOCUS OF THE SEARCH FOR THE NEWBORNS REMAINS. ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. THE FORT DODGE POLICE DEPARTMENT SEARCHED THE NORTH CENTRAL IOWA REGIONAL SOLID WASTE AGENCY’S LANDFILL AS PART OF THE HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION. THE SEARCH FOR THE NEWBORN HAS NOW BEEN GOING ON ALMOST TWO WEEKS. ON NOVEMBER 22ND, A CALLER REPORTED THAT A WOMAN HAD GIVEN BIRTH AT HOME AND THE DO MORE WAS LATER DEAD WITH THE BODY MOVED SOMEWHERE ELSE. INVESTIGATORS HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR ANY SURVEILLANCE VIDEO THAT MIGHT HELP WITH THE INVESTIGATION. THE WEBSTER COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT AND THE IOWA DCI ARE HELPING IN THE SEARCH TODAY. THE INVESTIGATION HAS SHIFTED AWAY FROM THE LANDFILL AND TOWARD OTHER LEADS. AND ONE THING THAT WILL POINT OUT IS THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HERE HAS ALSO REACHED OUT TO THE FBI TO HELP IN THIS INVESTIGATION. WE’RE LIVE THIS AFTERNOON IN FORT DODGE.

Fort Dodge police are now searching a nearby landfill in connection to the death of a newborn.Captain Dennis Quinn of the Fort Dodge Police Department told KCCI that authorities are searching the North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency on the south side of Fort Dodge. They started searching the landfill on Friday.The Fort Dodge police are being aided in their search by the F.B.I. and some members of the Webster County Sheriff's Reserves.The reward for information in this case is up to $1,500.Police believe the child was born last month at a Fort Dodge home and later died.Investigators are now searching for the remains to determine the cause of death.No charges have been filed.Previous coverage:
