Firefighter Daniel Castrillo died 10 years ago to the day, of a sudden illness.
He was the city's fire inspector at the time, after serving as a firefighter and paramedic for years.
He taught CPR, first aid, and babysitting to members of the community every month and was even a substitute teacher at Daphne High School.
Before joining the department, Castrillo spent seven years serving in the military.
"What we wanted to do is just honor him... he shaped EMS and fire in our region," said Captain of the Daphne Fire Department Lamar Green.
Castrillo was survived by his wife Joanne, his two sons Nicholas and Alexander, and his daughter Savannah.
