Search & Rescue volunteers helped rescue a hiker Saturday who had fallen on the Misery Ridge Trail at Smith Rock State Park, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office said.
A 911 call came in at about 1:35 p.m. Saturday for a woman who had sprained her ankle in a fall and couldn’t get back to the parking lot without help.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office paged SAR volunteers to help with the rescue, and ten responded shortly after 2 p.m.
Redmond Fire also sent two of its personnel to help.
“When Search and Rescue volunteers reached the hiker, they placed the hiker in a warming bag with a heat blanket, and prepared her for transport down the trail on a wheeled litter,” the sheriff’s office said.
The hiker was wheeled down the trail to a waiting ambulance and taken to St. Charles Medical Center for more medical care.
