Miami Marlins willing to trade any pitcher not named Sandy Alcantara

The Miami Marlins have made it clear that they are willing to trade pitching to improve their offense. Any interested teams will essentially have their pick of arms to choose from.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Marlins are not willing to trade Sandy Alcantara. That is also just about the only pitcher they will not take offers for as everyone else is available.

It is not a surprise that the Marlins are willing to trade their pitchers. Pablo Lopez has seemingly been on the trade block since the previous offseason and the Marlins did attempt to move arms for help in their lineup before. That was the plan again this season as they looked for help in center.

What is a surprise is that virtually everyone is available. This would presumably include prospects as well, with Edward Cabrera specifically mentioned by Heyman as someone the Marlins are listening on. If the Marlins are truly willing to move that type of prospect, they could bring in those impact bats that they desperately need.

It also makes sense for the Marlins to make these pitchers available. The pitching market is at a peak right now, with the likes of Tyler Anderson and Rafael Montero receiving over $11 million per season. If teams are willing to pay that type of money, it is entirely possible that the Marlins can get the pieces they need without trading any significant pieces for their future.

At this point, there are plenty of options available. But the dominos are starting to fall, with Anderson and Jacob deGrom having already signed. Once the bigger names start to come off the board, the Marlins’ phone could be ringing off the hook.

The Miami Marlins are making virtually every pitcher aside from Sandy Alcantara available. They may finally get the lineup help they need.
