Man United loanee Amad Diallo pleads with Sunderland fans to change X-rated chant about his manhood

Man United loanee Amad Diallo pleads with Sunderland fans to change X-rated chant about his manhood

Amad Diallo released a statement to the fans asking for them to be respectful and change the words of their X-rated chant about his manhood.

Amad Diallo has released a statement to Sunderland fans pleading with them to change the words in his X-rated chant.

The 20-year-old Manchester United loanee joined the North East club in the Championship on a season-long loan and has made an impact so far this season.

Diallo scored in the 3-0 win this weekend as Sunderland beat Millwall, which saw his side move up to 10th place after 21 games.

But ahead of that win, Diallo had chosen to release a statement to the fans regarding his chant.

Since joining, Diallo has impressed with four goals in 14 games for Tony Mowbray's side and has become a fan-favourite player at Sunderland.

However, fans have taken their love too far according to the player, who pleaded with them to change their X-rated song directed at the player's manhood.

Diallo released a statement through the club's Twitter account where he thanked fans for their support while also asking them to "keep the noise" but "change the song."

"Sunderland fans, I've had an amazing time so far and I love your energy. Hearing you sing my name is incredible, but we need to be respectful," he said.

"Let's change the song, keep the noise and move forward together. Ha'way the Lads."

In fairness, it is a catchy tune, but we can see why he felt the need to address the fans, especially when football is attended by people of all ages, beliefs and tastes.

Despite the win at the Stadium of Light, talkSPORT reported that supporters in attendance could be heard singing the song without the words omitted.

Diallo came through at Atalanta and spent two years playing in the youth leagues, as well as making five appearances for the senior team, scoring once.

He joined United in January 2021 for a fee around €25million to €40million, including bonuses as he signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils.

Last season saw him venture up to Scotland to play for Rangers, where he netted three in 13 before joining Sunderland this season.

At international level, he's already scored for the Ivory Coast despite only playing three times.

The young winger will look to keep impressing on loan and will hope to force his way into the United first-team squad in the future.
