HOUSTON -- The Browns lost one of their pass-catching weapons in quarterback Deshaun Watson’s season debut after Cleveland’s first drive on Sunday.
Rookie receiver David Bell exited Sunday’s game between the Texans and Browns after failing to catch a throw from Watson on third-and-3 and the 14:19 mark. Bell injured his hand and has been downgraded to out after initially being ruled questionable to return.
The drive wound up being a three-and-out sequence, a wasted opportunity following an interception by John Johnson III.

This season, Bell has caught 20 passes for 169 yards, averaging 8.5 yards per catch. The Browns drafted him in the third round this year out of Purdue. He missed time early in training camp with a foot injury. He rebounded well from that, however, and has played in every game this season.
In the third quarter, receiver Anthony Schwartz also exited the game and is being evaluated for a head injury.
