Because the Atlantic Coast Conference does not have a set pecking order for all of its bowl participants, there still is a good deal of speculation about where the Seminoles will end up later this month, and who they will be playing.

But most heavy hitters in the college football space have Mike Norvell’s 9-3 Florida State football team going to Orlando to face a Big 12 opponent in the Cheez-It Bowl.

ESPN has two college football analysts making projections, and they both have Florida State heading to Orlando for the Dec. 29 game. Mark Schlabach has the Seminoles facing Oklahoma, while Kyle Bonagura has FSU’s opponent as Texas Tech.

USA Today has Florida State playing Texas Tech in the Cheez-It Bowl, while Bleacher Report has the Seminoles facing Oklahoma there.

Brett McMurphy of the Action Network also has the ‘Noles playing Oklahoma in Orlando, as does Athlon Sports.

If the Seminoles do end up going to the Cheez-It Bowl, they will finish the 2022 season there and then come back to start the 2023 campaign. Florida State and LSU are scheduled to square off in Camping World Stadium on Sept. 3.

There are still some other projections that have Florida State going to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 30. CBS’ Jerry Palm has the Seminoles going there to face Minnesota. That’s also Florida State’s likely bowl destination according to SportingNews and CollegeFootballNews.

The bowl pairings are expected to be announced Sunday afternoon.
