New Orleans police are investigating a car accident that left one dead and another injured in the Lower 9th Ward on Sunday morning. According to police, a Honda Accord with two men was driving near the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Tricou Street around 5:04 a.m. Through investigation, it was determined that the Honda was traveling eastbound on North Claiborne Avenue when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle exited the travel lane and crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler trailer parked on the shoulder of the road.The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries. The passenger was declared dead on the scene. No other information is available at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
