FHP: Woman, 77, and man, 39, killed in separate crashes in Alachua County

Two people were killed in separate car crashes on Friday and Saturday, according to news releases from the Florida Highway Patrol.

On Friday at 4:30 p.m., an 82-year-old Archer man was traveling west on State Road 26 in a Chevrolet SUV when he attempted to turn left onto County Road 241. As the vehicle was turning left it was hit by a white Ford truck driven by a 51-year-old Riverview man who was headed east on State Road 26.

The passenger in the SUV, a 77-year-old Archer woman, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Both the driver of the SUV and the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries, according to the report.

On Saturday evening, a 39-year-old Alachua man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on North County Road 225. No other details on the crash were released.
