A county sheriff in Arkansas was arrested Saturday after he was found in possession of drugs and guns.

Arkansas State Police pulled over the car of Johnson County Sheriff Jimmy Stephens along U.S. Highway 71, according to spokesman Bill Sadler . Stephens was subsequently held in the Crawford County Detention Center, which houses just over 300 inmates . The jail reported an inmate escaped via a duct vent as recently as Thursday. Stephens shared a post on the inmate's escape to his Facebook page.

Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms is a Class Y felony in Arkansas, which could result in a sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison.

Anybody in Arkansas surprised by this? There used to be an old saying “Cops have the best drugs.” Guess that’s still true in this case.

He was a sheriff...why wouldn't he have a gun? I'm not saying what he did was right, especially the drugs but am I missing something here?
