ONE OF THE LONGEST-LIVING PEOPLE IN OVIEDO IS REACHING A MILESTONE THIS MORNING. >> [SINGING] HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. CHRISTINA: WE WANT TO WISH A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MR. JOHN CHANEY. THE MARINE CORPS VETERAN WHO STILL RIDES HIS BIKE ALMOST EVERY DAY TURNS 103 TODAY. YESTERDAY MANY IN THE COMMUNITY CAME TO SHOW HIM LOVE YOU CAN SEE THAT HERE IN THIS DRIVE-BY PARADE. WORLD WAR II VETERANS, THE COLOR GUARD, THE MAYOR OF OVIEDO AND MANY OTHERS WERE THERE. MR. CHANEY EVEN RECEIVED A CARD WITH 103 BIRTHDAY WISHES AND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT. One of the longest-living people in Oviedo reached a milestone Sunday.John Chaney celebrated his 103rd birthday.The Marine Corps veteran still rides his bike almost every day.On Saturday, the community honored him with a drive-by parade where cars lined up to celebrate his special day.Afterward, they gathered around to sing "Happy Birthday." Chaney even received a card with 103 signatures, birthday wishes and words of encouragement.Oviedo Mayor Megan Sladek helped organize this. "There were probably as many “entries” in this parade as there will be at the one tonight at Oviedo on the Park," Sladek said. "Super heartwarming, especially when we were all gathered around him after the parade ended. Two more WWII veterans came up to stand with him, then all the Marines in the crowd gathered around and all his kids."Five of his children came to town to celebrate Chaney's birthday.From all of us at WESH 2, Happy Birthday Mr. Chaney.
