Opinion: Time to play hardball with Mexico over border sewage spills
Some official on the American side with the legal right to do this must have the nerve.
Re “Mayor Serge Dedina, a leading voice for the South Bay, returns to his environmental activism” (Nov. 27): Serge Dedina, the clean water activist mayor of Imperial Beach, is quoted as saying, “We’ve lost our beach ... 12 miles of coastline in San Diego — and that’s unacceptable.”
Worse, it is criminal. Time to close the border. Absolutely shut it down. No Mexican citizens allowed to cross north into San Diego County again until Mexico cleans up/stops the insulting sewage leak. This river of disease not only affects our visitors, surfers and residents, the Navy SEALS train in that water.
Our problem is some official on the American side with the legal right to do this must have the nerve. Our California governor was a really gutsy guy back when he was mayor of San Francisco. How about it, Gov. Newsom?
