Notre Dame's Sacred Music Academy performs two Christmas concerts

The Notre Dame Children's Choir celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2022 and performs two Christmas concerts, Dec. 9 at St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka and Dec. 10 at Sacred Heart Basilica on the campus of Notre Dame.

The University of Notre Dame’s Sacred Music Academy presents two Christmas concerts as the Notre Dame Children’s Choir celebrates its 10th anniversary:

• Notre Dame Children’s Choir Lessons and Carols Concert, at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. Seventh St., Mishawaka: This annual Lessons and Carols Concert feature three of the program’s six children’s choirs, nearly 100 children ages 5 to 10, performing works for Advent with scripture readings, prayers and congregational hymns.

• Christmas with Sacred Music at Notre Dame, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at Sacred Heart Basilica on the campus of Notre Dame: This concert celebrates the seasons of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany through the choral, organ and vocal music of sacred music composers of Gregorian Chant to contemporary carols. The program includes works by Vaughan Williams, Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Whitacre, and more performed by the graduate students and faculty of Sacred Music at Notre Dame, as well as Concordia Vocal Ensemble and the Notre Dame Children’s Choir. Organ prelude begins at 7 p.m.

Admission to both concerts is free.
