National tournaments return to Canterbury

Canterbury Golf Club in Beachwood has hosted many USGA national championships with the last one being the 1996 Senior Open when Dave Stockton held off a hard-charging Hale Irwin to capture the title.

Canterbury is one of only a handful of clubs to have hosted the rotating major championships of the U.S. Open and the Senior Open, as well as the PGA Championship and the Senior PGA Championship.

Canterbury celebrated the club’s centennial in 2021 as members set ambitious goals for their second 100 years, including hosting USGA championships again.

Three championships have already been announced to be hosted by Canterbury: the 2027 Girls' Junior, the 2033 Senior Amateur and the 2039 Women’s Amateur.

Canterbury has also been selected to host the Ohio Amateur in 2023.
