Gabriel Jesus is set for an extended period out on the touchline after picking up a tournament-ending injury at the 2022 World Cup.

The Arsenal forward made his first start in Qatar after substitute appearances against Serbia and Switzerland in Brazil's 1-0 loss to Cameroon, coming off just after an hour complaining of pain in his knee.

That injury will keep him out of the remainder of the World Cup, with Globo initially ruling him out for a month. However, some outlets - including sporttv - say the prognosis is even worse.

They say the former Manchester City could now miss three months of action due to this knock, dealing a major blow to Arsenal's Premier League title hopes.

What Arsenal games will Gabriel Jesus miss?

Arsenal made an excellent start to the 2022/23 Premier League season, winning 12 games and losing just one to sit first with 37 points from 14 games.

Jesus made an immediate impact in the Gunners' attack after signing from City, contributing three goals and assists apiece in his first five league games. His output declined as the World Cup approached, though on-field success for Mikel Arteta's side continued.

However, the north London giants now face an extended period without their star striker. Jesus will almost certainly miss crucial January meetings with Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United, while they also face current champions Man City in mid-February.
