Search and Rescue teams from counties across the state have been working in tandem non-stop to find 86-year-old Ulysses Carr who went missing the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The Fresno man has been reported by his family to have Alzheimer's, affecting his memory and possibly affecting the path he chose to take when he went missing nine days ago.

"We have not found enough evidence to lead us directly to him," said Lieutenant Kathy Curtice, Search and Rescue for Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

Despite the rain, mud, and near-freezing temperatures; 94 people gathered on Saturday in search of Carr.

"If somebody were out completely in the open and exposed you know it would affect them because it's very cold temperatures and of course, with the rain, it makes it even worse," said Lt. Curtice. "But the fact that we have not found him also leaves open the possibility that he could have found shelter someplace and we just haven't found that shelter yet."

Almost half of the volunteers who participated in the search traveled from counties across the state, some as far north as the Bay Area.

"We found it really important to come out and support and help out where we can," said Melina Mattos a Field Member from the Bay Area Mountain Rescue Unit.

For those that have been asking why Carr hasn't been spotted on video surveillance footage...

"Some of the rural areas out here, you know homes are set farther back from the road," said Lt. Curtice. "There's longer driveways and the video and the video cameras are working but they are focused on their homes and closer rather than out farther."

Even though the search and rescue teams statewide are putting their best foot forward, Fresno Sheriff's Office is still asking the public for their help.

"Even if you live 10 or 15 miles away from this area, it's definitely worth checking your properties and checking your video cameras because until we find him, he could be anywhere," said Lt. Curtice.

As the search continues, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office has not ruled out foul play or the possibility that Carr may have been transported in a vehicle to an unknown area.

As of today, the Sheriff's Office reports they have searched six miles south and five miles west on foot with its K-9 Unit and volunteers. Lt. Curtice said FCSO has searched more than 10 miles in all directions with vehicles, aircraft, drones, and horseback.

If you see him around or have any information on where he is, you can contact the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center immediately by dialing (559) 600-3111.
