The Festival of Lights made its annual return as it was hosted by the Levelland MainStreet program, Thursday in downtown.

The evening event was a group effort that included MainStreet volunteers, Marigolds volunteers and the help of South Plains College.

Kicking off the event was the annual tree lighting for SPC with Dr. Satterwhite and Ms. Caprock Pageant winner Machayla Parkinson starting the process.

Following the tree lighting, the lighted parade started their portion of the event and this year the trail included going through the SPC campus to engage with the students on campus. Traveling down College Avenue, the parade made their way to the downtown area and wrapped up on Avenue H.

Several attractions including Santa were located on the courthouse lawn and gazebo area.

Decorated with lights and other colorful materials, the Marigolds and Mainstreet program have spent the last couple of day working on preparing for all the events.

The Marigolds hosted a window decoration contest to encourage a festive environment while MainStreet had various activities for children such as inflatable bounce houses.

Various businesses located around the square were open and gave out drinks and held specials for shoppers.
