Objective: Seek and destroy the monster nests
No trip to Calico Town this time around, instead we are dropped directly into the next level. This is the only semi-open level in the only game, allowing you do explore the area in any order you want as long as you eventually destroy all five monster nests.
Before you gain control you will be rewarded a new item, the Explosive Bundles. This is basically a single-use stick of dynamite that deals massive area damage, but with a long cooldown. This item can also be used to destroy pieces of the environment, which we will learn more about soon.
Upon gaining control, look to the left and you will see a Reset Machine nearby. Use it if you need to, but remember you can come back at any point during this level thanks to the open level structure.
To the right of the Reset Machine is an alleyway blocked by some debris. Smash through to find a small Bucks bag.
Across from the Reset Machine is a set of stairs that leads up to a balcony where you can find this small Bucks bag behind a corpse.
Go down the stairs on the opposite end of this balcony to get back to street level. Go past the next building and you will see an Energy pickup on your left, and a small Bucks bag behind a wagon on the right.
Finally, make your way to the very end of the main street and you will see a TNT box. Shoot it to reveal a small Bucks chest.
Return to the level spawn and head down the other main street. At the end is a broken bridge, but you can grab this small Bucks bag from one of the nearby porches.
Backtrack slightly and you will see a glowing hurdle on the side of the street. Hop over to reach the first monster nest. As you approach a bunch of wasters will spawn, followed by a Hive Crone.
Hopefully your Crippling Rod is off cooldown, you can just electrocute the Hive instantly and then kill it all at once with Supercharge Mode. If not, remember you need to shoot the three eggs before the Hive becomes vulnerable to attacks.
Once the Hive is dead all that's left are some Jenu Giants. Use Zapper to farm them for more Energy, then throw a stick of dynamite in the nest to destroy it.
Before you leave the area, go around the corner and jump over the hurdle to reach a Glowing Box with a small Bucks bag inside
Objective: Destroy all nests (1/5)
Go back over the first hurdle and onto the main street. Directly across from you is an alleyway.
Go into the alleyway to find this Glowing Box with a small Bucks bag inside.
As you round the corner a couple of vampires will burst from the building ahead of you. Blast them with the shotgun while they are grouped up, then Zapper them for some drops if you need more Energy.
From here the path splits three ways: into the building, down onto the ground below, or left onto the balcony. We are going to go left onto the balcony to get another nest.
Once you round the corner, use the glowing ladder to the left to get up onto the balcony overhead and grab this small Bucks bag.
Drop back down and break through the debris below the balcony to get another small Bucks bag.
Finally, hop the hurdle and go over the bridge to reach the second nest. This time we will encounter some wasters and Boo-hags. There is a nearby TNT box you can use to get some good area damage, otherwise just blast them with the shotgun and x-bow for an easy win. Toss a dynamite in the nest afterwards to destroy it.
Be sure to grab this small Bucks bag near the nest before heading out.
Objective: Destroy all nests (2/5)
Instead of going back, drop off the ledge in front of the destroyed nest. This will trigger a new encounter with some proteus, Boo-hags, and wasters. You should be pretty maxed out on resources here, so just kill them using whatever method you prefer.
Once the area is clear of enemies, shoot the TNT near the ledge to expose a small Bucks chest.
Then go forward toward the debris door in the distance. Before you break through, look in the hut to the left to find a Glowing Box with a small Bucks bag inside.
Smash through the debris door to reveal the third monster nest. Toss a dynamite in to destroy it!
Objective: Destroy all nests (3/5)
Go up the stairs to the left and you will reach the area where the monsters burst through the doorway earlier.
Hop over the hurdle and go to the left to find a Note, 7 Years Old Kid Drawing.
As well as a small Bucks chest.
Next, go to the other side of the room where you will find a ladder that leads to the top floor.
Here you will find a Unique Chest and a zipline. Open the chest to get some Bucks and the Work-Life Balance Perk. This Perk gives you a small amount of Energy when you pick up a Health Drop, and vice versa, amazing for our pure Energy build.
Take the zipline across the river and you will be dropped directly into an encounter. This one features a little bit of everything: Boo-Hags, giants, devils, vessels, and a Leecher. As usual, we are going to instantly Supercharge to kill off the Leecher before it can be a problem. With the Leecher dead, we just have to deal with the basic enemies, so abuse Zapper as usual to recharge all of your Energy for the next set of encounters.
When the encounter ends, go back to the spot where the zipline dropped you to find a Glowing Box with a small Bucks bag inside.
Then, jump the hurdle next to the box and you will be facing a water wheel.
Hop across the gap to your right, then go left to find a small Bucks bag on this balcony.
Jump back through the water wheel and over the hurdle again. Go back across the battlefield to find this small Bucks bag on a wooden barrel near a ledge.
Drop down the ledge and you will find another small Bucks bag on a cart near a bridge.
Right of the bridge is another hurdle that runs along the river. Go across to find a Note, Grey Oaks Resident Letter 2/2.
There is also a cave with a TNT inside. Shoot the TNT to open up the path to the next monster nest as well as the next encounter. This encounter features a bunch of basic enemies, such as devils proteus and more, as well as a Carrion Husk. This is a great time to use your dynamite cooldown on the Carrion Husk, then shotgun-Scorcher combo the entire group. Finish with a Supercharge and you should be able to kill off the Husk in a single go.
From there just Zapper the remaining enemies to recharge your Energy. Once the enemies are cleared out, dynamite the nest to move on.
Be sure to grab the small Bucks bag out of the Glowing Box to the left of the nest before you leave.
Objective: Destroy all nests (4/5)
Exit by climbing up the ledge to the right of the nest, which will take you back outside.
You will find a Note, Grey Oaks Resident Letter 1/2, on the wooden barrels just outside the cave.
You will also find another Unique Chest here, containing some Bucks and the Ghost Revolver Cosmetic.
Drop off the ledge by the chest to find yourself back in the enemy arena from earlier. Go across the arena and exit via the hurdle in the back left corner.
This will lead you to a graveyard where you can find a small Bucks bag on the right side.
To the left is the final monster nest, as well as another encounter. This is a much more basic one compared to the previous one in the cave, just some vessels and giants. There will be another encounter after this, so save all your longer cooldowns. Spam Zapper to make sure your health and Energy are maxed.
Once they're all dead, dynamite the final nest to complete the main objective.
Objective: Get back to the church
Follow the quest marker all the way back to the level spawn where you will see some enemies swarming the church. Follow them up to the church to enter the final encounter.
Objective: Survive the monster onslaught
This encounter starts off simple enough, some Boo-hags and some vessels. Don't use any valuable cooldowns on them, stick to the shotgun, revolver, and x-bow at most.
Once you've cleared most of the basic enemies a Vampire Highborn and two Leechers will join the fray. With max Energy, we can instantly Supercharge and kill one of the Leechers immediately.
With the resulting drop (plus some other basic enemy kills) you should just about have enough Energy for another Supercharge. Supercharge round two to kill off the other Leecher, leaving only the Vampire Highborn.
Thankfully we know how to deal with this guy. As usual, stay out of its melee range as much as possible. Pelt him with x-bow shots, Scorcher, and the occasional shotgun blast while you wait for it to expose its weak point. Shooting the weak point will temporarily stun the Highborn and produce a drop.
If you manage to build up enough Energy you could Supercharge again, but you probably don't need to as long as you play it safe and keep up the onslaught of ranged attacks. Keep abusing the Highborn's weak point until it is defeated, which will trigger the end of level.
