Fox Chapel Area High School sophomore Swati Mylarappa took home fifth place in the Student Congress portion of the Moon/Our Lady of Sacred Heart Speech and Debate tournament at Moon Area High School on Nov. 19.

Approximately 340 students representing 26 public and private high schools from Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia competed in the tournament this year.

The Fox Chapel Area boys basketball teams are conducting a shoot-a-thon Dec. 17 to raise money for the program.

Team members each shoot 100 free throws and get pledges for each basket made during the event.

Players on the seventh and eighth grade teams, the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams participate.

The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program has scholarships available for the 2022-2023 academic year. In recent years the program has awarded at least 8 scholarships at $5,000 each. High school seniors in Allegheny County are eligible to apply.

Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.

Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay, which highlights their community/school service, as part of the application submission.
