North Omaha organizations, volunteers put on toy giveaway for community children

DOZENS OF KIDS IN NORTH OMAHA ARE STARTING THEIR HOLIDAY SEASON SATURDAY WITH THE ANNUAL TOY GIVEAWAY NEWSWATCH SEVEN AT NINE AND IT’S KYLE LARSON SHOWS US INSIDE THAT GIVEAWAY. KIDS FILE IN NO GET OVER HERE AND IMMEDIATELY HEAD TO THE TABLE WITH THEIR DESIRED GIFT FOR YOU. ONE FOR YOU. OH, NO. YOU GOT TO ME. GOOD FOR YOU. PRESTON. LOVE HOSTS THIS NORTH OMAHA TOY GIVEAWAY EACH YEAR. HE SAYS THE EVENT COMES DOWN TO GIVING. THIS IS A TIME OF YEAR OF GIVING AND TO SURELY GIVE HONOR TO WHAT WHAT THE SEASONS OF LOVE SAYS. NOT EVERY KID IN EVERY HOUSEHOLD RECEIVES GIFTS. SO EVENTS SUCH AS THIS ARE CRUCIAL. PEOPLE WHO HAVE JOBS AND WHO ARE DOING GREAT, RESPONSIBLE THINGS STILL HAVE TROUBLE TO TO FINANCE GIFT FOR THE CHILDREN. SHELIA COTTON SHOWED UP SATURDAY WITH HER SON. SHE LOVES THE SUPPORT SHE SEES FROM ORGANIZATIONS IN NORTH OMAHA. BEING A MEMBER OF THE OMAHA COMMUNITY IS JUST A GREAT TO COME OUT HERE AND SEE EVERYBODY AND ALL THE BUSINESSES AND EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS. IT’S PRETTY GREAT TO SEE. MIKE BOVIE IS A JUNIOR ON THE UNIVERSITY OF OMAHA BASEBALL TEAM. HE AND HIS TEAMMATES SHOWED UP TO HELP HAND OUT GIFTS, WHICH IS AWESOME TO SEE THE SMILE ON KIDS FACES. IT GIVES YOU A SENSE OF FILL MEANT THAT YOU REALLY DON’T GET TOO OFTEN FOR LOVE, WHO WORKS WITH MANY COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. HE SAYS EACH EVENT, EACH PARTNERSHIP ALWAYS COMES BACK TO BENEFIT THE CHILDREN. THANKS TO THE ADULTS, THERE IS A RESIDUAL THAT GOES DOWN IN THE MENTAL HEALTH, THE PHYSICAL HEALTH, THE NEEDS OR EVEN ISSUES THAT AFFECT THE CHILDREN. ULTIMATELY. Various Omaha groups and organizations got together Saturday afternoon in North Omaha at Fabric Lab to host an annual toy giveaway.Preston Love with Black Votes Matter runs the toy giveaway. Love partners with the NAACP and University of Nebraska-Omaha athletics."This is a time of year of giving and to surely give honor to what the season is about," Love said.Mike Boeve is a junior on the UNO baseball team. He and his teammates were at the giveaway helping hand out toys to children."It's just awesome to see the smile on kids' faces," Boeve said. "It gives you a sense of fulfillment that you really don't get too often."Shalea Cotton lives in North Omaha and brought her son to the giveaway. Cotton says she loves seeing groups support North Omaha."It's great to come out here and see everybody and all the businesses and everybody who supports," Cotton said.This year was the third year of the toy giveaway.
