BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The local Marines Corps Reserves partnered with another organization to help provide for thousands of kids for Christmas.
“Toys for Tots” was accepting donations outside of 105.5 The Legend in Brazil, in hopes of providing for about 2,600 kids who are registered with the program, according to 1st Sargent Daniel Wald.
“We’re collecting toys for underprivileged children. Our goal is to give three toys per child that’s registered. We’re getting close but we’re not quite there,” he said.
Wald called it “very rewarding and fulfilling” to see community members coming out in droves to donate to those in need.
“Another fulfilling part of what we’re doing is knowing that people care, and that they care about us and they care about kids,” he said. “Makes you really appreciate the folks in your community and connects you to the people you live and work with.”
Wald said distribution in Vigo County would take place Dec. 13th and 15th at the Meadows Shopping Center. In Clay County, they will distribute toys Dec. 17th, at the Family Worship Center.
