UNH Falls to Stonehill, 57-50 on Saturday Afternoon

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire women's basketball team fell to Stonehill 57-50 on Saturday afternoon at Lundholm Gym.
 
Freshman guard Breezie Williams (Canton, Ohio) recorded 13 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Junior guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) with a tough fight as well setting herself up for plenty of smart shots leading to 9 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal.
 
The Wildcats' record falls to 3-6 (0-0 AE) and Stonehill's improves to 2-7 (0-0 NEC).

FIRST QUARTER:
●      Freshman guard Avery O'Connor (Dedham, Mass.) scored the first basket of the game for the Cats' coming from a top of the key three pointer.
●      Senior guard Brooke Kane (Derry, N.H.) and junior guard Adara Groman (Hopkinton, Mass.) were both able to capitalize on and-one free throws giving the 'Cats a 15-14 lead.
SECOND QUARTER:
●      Stonehill tied the game back up at 20 a piece at the 8:27 of the 2nd quarter with two three pointers.
●      At the end of the second, Williams made a buzzer beater three to bring the 'Cats back within five.
THIRD QUARTER:
●      At the opening of the third quarter, Williams sank a mid-range jumper to close the Stonehill lead to three.  
●      O'Connor had four made free throws in the third quarter.
●      Freshman guard Diana Eliasson (Stockholm, Sweden) with a great take to the rim finishing it putting the Cats' down 5. Next play down, Kane with another great take with the shot clock winding down pushing the lead to only 3 for Stonehill.
FOURTH QUARTER:
●      Williams had a clutch jumper from the right wing to tie the game up at 46.
●      A free throw made at the 3:16 mark from Groman tied the game 50-50.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
●      UNH out rebounded Stonehill 40 boards to 34
●      The Wildcats dominated the paint with 28 points in the paint to Stonehill's 18.
