Love Island star Zara McDermott has been rushed to hospital after experiencing “excruciating” pain.
The reality star, who took part in the fourth series of ITV2’s dating show, was checked into A&E on Friday night, posting a photo of herself hooked up to machines as she endured an “eventful night.”
“Sam had to rush me to A&E because I had excruciating pain in my abdomen – had a feeling it was a burst cyst on my ovary because I’ve had it before on my other side and it felt similar,” she wrote on her Instagram story.

“I just want to say the A&E team were just incredible. I was seen so quickly and had all tests and scans done within two hours of being there. They wanted to keep me in overnight but after all the pain relief I felt a lot better so I had a few hours in bed before heading back this morning for another few scans.
“They want to make sure my ovary isn’t twisted as I was presenting with all symptoms last night. But likely burst cyst, which if you’ve had before is EXCRUCIATING,” she concluded.
In subsequent posts, Zara disclosed that tests had revealed that blood was found in her abdomen as a result of a burst cyst, but assured followers that there were no other issues. She also thanked fans for their messages and the “amazing” NHS for their “brilliance”, saying she would now have a “relaxing weekend” at home.

The star recently promised to change the content of her social media posts following criticism for her documentary, Disordered Eating.
The project explored the impact that social media influencers have on people dealing with eating disorders, but some viewers described the BBC documentary as “tone-deaf” in its portrayal of the subject matter.
Love Island airs on ITV2 and is available via catch up on ITVX and BritBox.
