A Fairfield restaurant owner was recognized in Bridgeport Saturday for his community outreach.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal was at The Castle Black Rock to recognize The Castle on Post in Fairfield owner Patrick Clyne, saying his motto has always been "make friends, not money."
Supporters said the proud Irish immigrant has raised over $50,000 for charities through his plant sales at the restaurant.
"He is a model citizen of this country, an Irish immigrant, proud of his heritage but a really dedicated member of the community who makes us all proud," Blumenthal enthused.
"Thank you very much to all the people of Black Rock and it's great to be back in Black Rock, where I started 30 years ago," Clyne said.
Clyne's most recent fundraiser was for Sister Mary Ellen Burns of Apostle Immigrant Services.
