Officers stopped the car as it entered Rocky River. While the woman driver searched for her purse for her license, an officer noticed it was sitting in a cup holder next to an open can of alcoholic tea, according to a police department press release.

The 30-year-old Elyria woman slurred her speech and appeared intoxicated. An officer, after administering field sobriety tests, arrested the woman for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and having an open container. Fraud

A resident at 4 p.m. on Nov. 21 came to the police station to report a fraud.

The victim had received an unsolicited phone call a few days prior that appeared on the caller ID to come from Ohio Edison.

The caller said that the resident’s bill had not been paid and that an “immediate” transfer of funds was needed to keep the power on at the residence. The victim sent several hundred dollars to the scammers via a money application. Later, wondering if it had been a scam, the complainant called the power company directly. He learned that his bill was in good standing.
