THE ANNUAL PENNY CAMPAIGN RETURN TO BENEFITS SAMARITANS MINISTRIES FOR ITS 30TH YEAR. AND DONORS GAVE AWAY THEIR SPARE CHANGE AT THIS DRIVE THRU AT THE TRUIST STADIUM ALL MORNING LONG. THIS IS SUCH A POSITIVE EVENT AND IT’S SO EXCITING TO BE HERE WITH PEOPLE TO KIND OF KICK OFF THE SEASON OF CHRISTMAS AND SHARING. AND IT’S JUST A LOT OF FUN TO SEE ALL THE DONATION. Volunteers from Samaritan Ministries and people in Winston-Salem came together, collecting spare change and dollars for a bigger purpose.Despite the heavy rain donors gave away their spare change at the drive-through at the Truist Stadium, Saturday morning.The annual "Penny Campaign" returned for its 13th year, raising funds for those in need."It's so exciting to be here with people to kind of kick off the season of Christmas and sharing and it's just a lot of fun to see all the donations work together for good," said Jan Kelly, executive director of Samaritan Ministries.Organizers said the goal is to raise $70,000.All proceeds raised will go toward guest services and the fulfill the local nonprofit's mission: providing local food, shelter and hope through Christian love.People can also volunteer with the organization as a way to give back to the community.
