Fire damages 5 homes in York

Crews were called to a rowhome fire Saturday afternoon in York.
The fire happened at a rowhome on the 400 block of West Princess Street around 3 p.m.
Firefighters think the blaze started on the second floor of one rowhome then spread to the adjoining rowhomes on either side.
One of the homes sustained significant damage. York City Fire Chief William Sleeger estimates the damage at more that $500,000.
All the homes were occupied and the Red Cross responded to help the displaced residents.
By around 6 p.m. the fire was out but firefighters were still spraying down hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
