Jameson Williams is in line to make his NFL debut on Sunday after the Detroit Lions activated the former Alabama wide receiver from the reserve/non-football injury list on Saturday afternoon.

Williams had held the reserve designation since Aug. 23 as he recovered from a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained in Alabama’s 33-18 loss to Georgia in the CFP national championship game on Jan. 10.

Williams returned to practice on Nov. 21, and he will be eligible to play when the Lions square off against the Jacksonville Jaguars at noon CST Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.

The Lions have a 4-7 record, and six games remain on Detroit’s 2022 regular-season schedule.

The Lions traded up 20 spots in the NFL Draft to select Williams at No. 12 on April 28 despite his knee injury.

Williams caught 79 passes for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns in his only season at Alabama. He also returned 10 kickoffs for a 35.2-yard average and two touchdowns and shared the 2021 SEC Special Teams Player of the Year Award with Tennessee wide receiver Velus Jones Jr.

The Lions also announced on Saturday the elevation of Ross Pierschbacher from their practice squad, making the former Alabama offensive lineman eligible to play against Jacksonville on Sunday.

Detroit also elevated Pierschbacher from its practice squad last week, and he played in an NFL game for the first time since Jan. 3, 2021, by getting on the field for four special-teams plays in a 28-25 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
