BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Tis the season for putting up wreaths, trees, and of course, dressing up as Santa for the annual "SantaCon" pub crawl in Boston.

SantaCon 2022 in Fenway kicked off on Saturday as the 27th iteration of the event, something that happens at bars and cities across the country. Those who bought wristbands from Pubcrawls.com got to skip cover charges at the pubs participating in the ordeal, as a wandering photographer looks for and snaps pics of the best Santa outfit.

WBZ's James Rojas was at one of the beginning venues of SantaCon, the Cheeky Monkey Brewing Company, to find those who were donning the most festive costumes.

"It's an excuse to dress up and have a good time and go to bars with everyone," said one "Santa."

"Today's SantaCon: one day a year, everyone gets hammered— it's the best day of the year," said another "Santa."

It turns out, Boston was the hot destination for SantaCon for many out-of-state visitors from New England and beyond this year. Some say they traveled from as far as Pennsylvania, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.

WBZ's James Rojas (@JamesRojasNews) reports.
