#14 UConn Splits Two-Game Series with 1-0 Win Over UNH

Storrs, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team split the two-game series against New Hampshire with a 1-0 victory Saturday afternoon. 

Period 1: The offensive play would start off slow for the Huskies as they would earn their first shot on goal at the nine-minute mark in the first period. UNH would take more shots to start off the game, but the defense would remain strong. Then, UConn found its breakthrough as Brooke Campbell set up Claire Peterson for the first goal of the day. The period ended at 1-0 UConn.  

Period 2: Both teams came into the second period tied with five shots on goal. UConn would then earn its first power play try in the game, but UNH would kill the penalty. By the middle of the second, UNH led in shots on goal with 14 to UConn's 11. UConn ended the period with 15 and UNH had 17. The score remained 1-0 UConn after the second.  

Period 3: The shots continued to pile up in the third period. UConn goaltender, Megan Warrener, would end the game with 27 saves and UConn finished with 22 shots on goal. The Huskies would hold the Wildcats off to keep the 1-0 lead and come away victorious.

The Huskies will look ahead to the matchup against Brown University on Dec. 31. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.
