Metropark officers assist in search for distraught mystery woman, two kids: Moreland Hills Police Blotter

Four days later an unknown female with a child screaming in the background left an equally mysterious message seeking help on the police station call box, but was gone minutes later.

MORELAND HILLS, Ohio

Personal welfare, attempt to locate: Chagrin River Road

A caller reported at 4:55 p.m. Nov. 23 that she had been speaking at Jackson Field to a woman in a light green Honda CRV who was crying, ranting and rambling with two young children around ages 6 and 8 in the car. They then took off toward Lander Road and possibly the Orange Police Department when the caller stepped away.

The driver told the caller she had multiple sclerosis, that her hands were numb and that she was from Pennsylvania, although her parents lived “around here.” Metroparks police were also notified.

Before leaving, the woman reportedly kept saying “you’re afraid of the dark” and that she was turning green, although it was unclear to whom she was referring.

At 5:23 p.m., patrol officers reported they were unable to locate the woman and children.

Call box message, SOM Center Road

Dispatchers reported that an unknown female had stopped at the police station call box at 8:14 p.m. Nov. 27 asking for help, with a child also heard screaming in the background.

But the caller stopped talking into the call box and was gone two minutes later when police arrived, with no further information available.

Suspicion: Miles Road

A caller reported at 10:46 a.m. Nov. 23 he had just learned there was a tree service on their property, explaining that he had not called anyone about cutting trees and the village had not notified him of any plans to do so.

Police then checked and reported back around 11 a.m. that the tree service was contracted through the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company.

Personal welfare: South Strawberry Lane

A caller who lives in Colorado called dispatch Nov. 23 saying she had not heard from her sister recently and was now trying to get in touch to tell her their aunt had died.

An officer went to the address she had but learned that there was no one living there by that name. After further checking, an officer called the woman back in Colorado and told her that her sister actually lives in Richmond Heights and to call police there.

Traffic stop: Chagrin Boulevard

Police stopped the driver of a Volkswagen at 11:39 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Cleveland Metroparks Polo Fields to issue a warning about squealing tires.

Animal (miscellaneous): SOM Center Road

A resident reported at 10:20 a.m. Nov. 22 that their 65-pound Akita puppy -- with tags -- got spooked by construction noises and ran out of the house. “Isaiah” was then located about 10:45 a.m.

Damage to property: Miles Road

A resident in the 34000 block called directly into the police station on the afternoon of Nov. 23 to request a report on unspecified property damage.
