A sense of normalcy has returned to the state of South Carolina as the Dutch Fork football team once again wears the crown in the palmetto state.
The Silver Foxes thoroughly handled Fort Dorchester Saturday in the 5A state championship game, 47-10 to reclaim their rightful spot on the football throne.
The victory caps off a revenge tour after Dutch Fork fell in the state championship game last year, snapping five straight state championships for the Silver Foxes.
Now a new streak begins as RB Jarvis Green matched his jersey number with four touchdowns and QB Aliam Appler posted a pair of his own in the victory.
"Losing last year obviously I felt the pressure," Dutch Fork Head Coach Tom Knotts said. "My butt was tight for most of the year. Some coaches say you can't win it all on the first day. I think that's crazy. I'm going out the first day to try to win it. Every day for me was trying to win a championship. So I'm really relieved more so than anything. I'm happy. I'm glad it ended like it did."
"It's just a brotherhood," Green said. "They're very special. They're very talented kids. I love it. Coach Knotts always puts us in a spot where we need to be....during the offseason from day one we wanted to come back here and win a state championship and win it for Jack. That's what we did today."
"This feels amazing," Appler said. "I moved here just for this opportunity and I can't express the words right now."
