The Centurions beat Bardstown on Saturday afternoon

The CAL football team won its first state title since 2018 after beating Bardstown 38-0 in the KHSAA 3A State Championship Game Saturday afternoon in Lexington. With the victory, the Centurions completed the perfect season with a 15-0 overall record. Meanwhile, the loss was Bardstown's (14-1) first defeat of the year. The Centurions finished the game with 452 total yards of offense, compared to Bardstown's 235 yards of offense. CAL quarterback Cole Hodge was 12-of-22 for 172 yards and three touchdowns. Connor Hodge, Trey Cotton and Malachi Embers each hauled in one touchdown from Hodge. Meanwhile, CAL running back Gavin Copenhaver finished the game with 225 yards on the ground on 15 carries. He also scored two rushing touchdowns. Those numbers helped him earn championship game MVP honors. Bardstown running back Tyty Williams had 94 yards on 25 carries for the Tigers. It was the Centurions' third state championship in program history.
