Hugh Freeze Auburn Tigers football coach Hugh Freeze is introduced at the Woltosz Football Performance Center in Auburn, Ala., on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022

One of the rumors that circulated during Hugh Freeze‘s hiring at Auburn is his usage of social media. Freeze has been known to use the platform a lot and got in trouble about it years ago when he DM’d (direct message) a woman who was involved in a sexual assault lawsuit involving Liberty.

It was reported initially that his contract with Auburn stipulated that he had to give over control of his social media accounts, which Freeze later denied.

During an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday, Freeze discussed his new role and answered questions about his past. He also admitted that he will be sharing access to his social media accounts with others.

“I have actually a lot of people in that office that work with me on that now, and I like it that way. It’s hard for me to keep up now with everything that’s going on,” Freeze said. “I didn’t know a few coaches had already changed different places because I can’t keep up with it because I’ve got my hands full with a lot of other things right now. It’ll be a joint effort.”

Another rumor that was floating around was that Lane Kiffin turned down the Auburn job in part because he wasn’t going to be allowed to post on social media freely. Those who follow college football know Kiffin loves social media and uses it to troll other teams and sometimes coaches. He even trolled Hugh Freeze when he was introduced as Auburn’s head coach.
