"Disappointment."
That was Matthew Puglise's first reaction after today's match against the Netherlands.
"This game was the United States' for the taking. It was a winnable game from the beginning," said Puglise.
Puglise serves as Vice President of the American Outlaws Providence.
The Providence chapter brings together soccer fans across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Fans packed the Brass Monkey in Providence bright and early this morning to watch the match.
"We were at capacity here at like, 8:45, 9 o'clock in the morning, said Puglise. "Everyone was really excited."
The excitement wasn't long lasting. The Netherlands eliminated the United States from the World Cup with a 3-1 victory.
U.S. fans hoped the team would advance past the round of 16 for the first time since 2002.
The Netherlands will go on to play the winner of Argentina-Australia in the quarterfinals.
