IMPD investigating fatal Friday shooting on city's north side

Police are investigating a shooting Friday night that left a person dead on the north side of Indianapolis.

Officers with the IMPD responded to a report of a person shot on the 3700 block of Washington Boulevard, near 38th Street and Central Avenue, just before 8 p.m. Friday. Police found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital, but was pronounced dead by medical staff, police said.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the name of the man who was killed once next-of-kin is notified, police said.
