These Are the Denim Trends I'm Excited to Try in 2023 as a Plus-Size Editor

Most Wanted is a weekly series in which one Who What Wear team member or friend of the brand will share the top 30 fashion and beauty finds on their current wish list. Yesterday was raining and freezing where I live, but today is sunny and beautiful (albeit still freezing), and it's put me in a big spring shopping mood. I find that the best way to approach shopping for a new season is to see what basics are missing in my wardrobe and start filling those holes with items that will make getting dressed easier when the new season arrives, so that's what I'm here to do.

I'm the first one to admit that I love to get dressed up. A party, an event, a happy hour, a girl's trip, a first date… You name it—I'm dressing up for it. I believe that life is way too short to wear boring clothes and that your clothing is like personal armor and a tool for self-confidence. If there's a chance that I get to pull one of the many, many dresses in my collection, I always jump at it. When shopping for dresses, I like to focus on pieces that are versatile. I love a dress that I can wear from the office to a work event or a dinner—a dress that can transform from the perfect date-night look to a great night-out moment.

It goes without saying that Chanel's influence over the fashion industry has proven to be neverending. There are brands that come in and out of style, but Chanel has always been cool and coveted since its inception. The "Chanel girl" look has evolved a bit over the years and has certainly become a bit more casual and lived-in if you will, but it's maintained that classic, pretty, polished aesthetic. Now, it's just paired with distressed jeans sometimes. The point is, ask any fashion girl what the Chanel look is and they'd be able to describe it precisely. And it's a look a lot of people want.

Right now, Zara is stocked with so many great finds under $100. With thousands of products and new pieces arriving all the time, there can be a lot to sift through, so I did the digging for you and found the best items to add to your cart right now. I noticed that Zara is currently heavily stocked with great basics and seasonless neutrals, and I'm diving into the standouts to snap up for winter and the spring months ahead.

For the second time in recent history, the model has been spotted donning head-to-toe looks from Creative Director Matthieu Blazy's second collection for the Italian brand, both of which feature one of the year's most talked-about (and cheapest) accessories—sheer tights. Let’s be real, I’m a TikTok addict. Now, that might sound like a bad thing but it’s had its benefits. The endless scrolling has changed my life. My hair has never looked healthier, my makeup has never been better, and I’m the first to know about nail color trends that are taking over the internet. I’ve never seen a color take the nail world by storm like red in recent months. It’s all thanks to something that TikTok creators are calling the “Red Nail Theory.” Without much explanation, creators were going viral for simply showing their nails and commenting on the theory. After a deep dive in the search engine, I found the most concise explanation possible. Basically, the theory is that by wearing red nails, you’ll be more confident and also attract some romantic attention. It’s been a while since the theory has launched so now that the dust has settled, let’s investigate it.

As unfortunate as it is, most clothes weren't designed with petite people in mind. Count the 5'10" and above models on the runway for proof. Growing up, I always felt jealous of anyone with freckles. (I thought of freckles like constellations, each person's unique and beautiful in their own way.) Two such people are Larsen Thompson and Joyjah Estrada, talented models who wear their freckles proudly and with a whole lot of style. When it comes to lip products, the Who What Wear beauty team is incredibly picky. We ask products to do the most: plump, moisturize, and smooth, all while making our lips look like we just got rom-com kissed and whatever we had on our lips smudged just so. It’s a pretty high bar, we’re aware.

As you may well know we love a great Nordstrom find over here at Who What Wear, but what’s even more thrilling is finding said Nordstrom find considerably marked down—which is exactly what you’ll get at their off-price sister store—Nordstrom Rack. While scouring through Nordstrom Rack may feel overwhelming (and not nearly as glamorous as shopping at Nordstrom), the wonderful part about it is you can find many designer brands, cool labels, and quality pieces at more accessible prices.

I might be showing my quirkiness a little bit here, but believe me when I say that I'm always prepared (with notes) to argue with anyone who tells me they didn't like Ariana Grande's iconic video for her hit single "Thank U, Next." I know I'm being a tad dramatic, but when a piece of *art* captures and re-creates the iconic movies of your teen years perfectly, you tend to go a little overboard on the love and affection.
