SAN ANTONIO – Two people are fighting for their lives after an altercation led to a shooting at a South Side park Friday night, according to the San Antonio police Department.
Around 10:30 p.m. police were called to the 200 block of E. Hart Ave. for a shooting in progress.
Officers arrived to Morill Park and found one juvenile by the basketball courts with gunshot wounds all over his body. Officers also found a suspect with gunshot wound to the neck and abdomen across the street from the park. Numerous shell casings were found on the basketball court and in the grass.
Witnesses told police there was an altercation between two groups when the victims asked the suspects and several other people who were sitting at the bleachers if they wanted to play a game.
Other words were exchanged, and the suspects allegedly pulled several handguns and demanded the victims' belongings. Shortly after shots were fired.
The juvenile was struck approximately six times and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Friends of the suspect took his gun, loaded it up in a vehicle and left location. The injured suspect was being helped to walk down the street but was left behind; he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Through the investigation, it was found the suspects fired first.
Both suspects, 19 and 22 years of age, will be charged with three counts of Aggravated Robbery.
