Wooster Daily Record
A semitrailer and its tanker overturned on U.S. Route 30 eastbound Saturday morning, closing a portion of the highway while emergency responders worked to clear the scene.

PLAIN TWP. ‒ A portion of U.S. Route 30 eastbound was closed Saturday morning before U.S. Route 250 just west of Wooster when a tanker hauling milk overturned on the highway.

According to an alert from the Ohio Department of Transportation, emergency crews remained at the scene of the rollover crash as of 9 a.m., and the road was expected to remain "closed for a while for cleanup."

ODOT's suggested detour is state Route 89 south to state Route 95 east to state Route 3 north, and back onto Route 30.

According to a state trooper at the scene, the tanker carrying 45,000 gallons of milk was headed east on Route 30 between Elyria and Jefferson roads when it traveled off the left side of the roadway and into the median overturning on the driver's side.

No injuries were reported.

New Pittsburgh Fire and Rescue and the State Highway Patrol's Wooster post were among those responding.

A post on the New Pittsburgh Fire and Rescue Association Facebook page said the incident happened just before 6:30 a.m.

The overturned tanker was "leaking milk into the waterway," the post reads. "... Crews (were) working on building a dam to stop the milk from running into the creek."
