DEVELOPMENTS AND REPORTS FROM BOSTON TONIGHT. CHRISTOPHER KEELEY IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN MIAMI FLORIDA WHERE HE’S WAITING FOR A HEARING. AFTER THAT, HE’LL RETURN HERE TO MASSACHUSETTS TO FACE CHARGES. I FEEL SAFER. A FOUR DAY SEARCH BY POLICE ENDING 1500 MILES AWAY IN MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA. AUTHORITIES FINDING 27 YEAR OLD CHRISTOPHER KIELY THERE WANTED IN CONNECTION TO THE BRUTAL DOUBLE HOMICIDE OF MARSHFIELD. COUPLE CARL AND VICKI MADSEN. IT’S JUST KIND OF REALLY SAD WHAT HAPPENED. I WAS ACTUALLY KIND OF FREAKED OUT. THIS IS WHERE POLICE SAY THEY FOUND KEELY IN MIAMI, THE FUGITIVE SEEMING TO CHANGE HIS APPEARANCE WHILE ON THE RUN, DONNING RED HAIR IN HIS BOOKING PHOTO BY MIAMI BEACH POLICE. IT’S JUST CRAZY THAT HE WAS, LIKE, READY, BE LIKE ON THE RUN. SOMEONE CALLED IN A WELFARE ON THE MARTINS WHEN THE AUTHORITIES ARRIVED TO THEIR GOTHAM HILL DRIVE HOME TUESDAY NIGHT. THEY FOUND THE 270 YEAR OLDS BLUDGEONED AND STABBED TO DEATH. I THINK IT’S JUST REALLY SURPRISING THAT SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED IN LIKE A SMALL TOWN OR SOUTH SHORE’S A VERY SAFE AREA. WE DON’T SEE THIS TYPE OF STUFF. POLICE BELIEVE KELLEY STOLE, THE VICTIM’S JEEP WRANGLER. FINDING IT ABANDONED IN AVON ONE DAY AFTER THE MADSEN’S BODIES FOUND. NO WORD YET ON HOW THEY BELIEVE KEELY WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT ALL THE WAY TO MIAMI. FLORIDA KEYS. JUST LIKE A MANIAC. AND IT’S JUST CRAZY THAT THERE’S PEOPLE AROUND US, LIKE, EVERY DAY. Massachusetts man wanted for murdering Marshfield couple arrested in Miami Beach
A Massachusetts man who was wanted in connection with the murders of a married Marshfield couple is in custody in Florida.Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz announced Saturday morning that 27-year-old Christopher Keeley, of Weymouth, was arrested in Miami Beach at about 8:20 p.m. Friday.The victims, Carl and Vicki Mattson, were found dead in their Gotham Hill Drive home at about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday by Marshfield police officers who were performing a well-being check on the couple.Cruz said the Mattsons, both 70 years old, were bludgeoned and stabbed to death. Vicki Mattson was killed the night before her 71st birthday, according to the district attorney.“This does not appear to be a random act of violence. This appears to be a targeted attack,” Cruz said Wednesday.With the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit and Cruz's office, Marshfield police developed probably cause and identified Keeley as a person of interest in the double homicide.On Wednesday, state police issued a "be on the lookout" alert for Keeley and a 2019 black Jeep Wrangler. Investigators later recovered the Jeep at a parking lot in Avon that day. The vehicle was unoccupied.An arrest warrant for Keeley was issued out of Plymouth District Court on Wednesday.Cruz also announced Saturday that a dog reported missing from the Mattsons' house at 75 Gotham Hill Drive was found dead inside the home. A veterinary follow-up is being conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.Keeley faces a hearing in Florida to determine whether he will waive rendition before his return to Massachusetts to face charges.Previous coverage of this story
