Pending Bills free agent willing to do ‘whatever I gotta do to stay in Buffalo’

If you need a reminder of how good the culture is in Buffalo, Rodger Saffold gave you one on Saturday morning.

The Buffalo Bills’ starting left guard took to social media and let his desire to continue playing in Buffalo be known publicly. He wrote on Twitter, “I’ll do whatever I gotta do to stay in Buffalo.”

Saffold tried to tag general manager Brandon Beane in the tweet, but Buffalo’s GM does not have an account on the social media platform.

Buffalo added Saffold in the offseason to bolster their offensive line and add a player who had familiarity with offensive line coach Aaron Kromer. As Saffold later added, he has yet to allow a sack in 12 games this season.

Saffold, 34, signed a one-year, $6.25 million deal to join the Bills in free agency. If he’s truly willing to do whatever he needs to do to remain with the Bills, Saffold will likely need to take a more team friendly deal for 2023 and beyond.

In addition to Saffold, Buffalo’s pending free agents include Tremaine Edmunds, Devin Singletary, Jordan Poyer, Jordan Phillips and Shaq Lawson.

It won’t be easy to bring everyone back, but it’s clear that the former All-Pro and Pro Bowl guard wants to continue and perhaps finish his career with the Bills.
