Maybe you missed it this week but Universal Pictures dropped the trailer for “Cocaine Bear,” and it is pretty spectacular.
If you did miss it, you are probably thinking to yourself … “Cocaine Bear?”
Yeah, “Cocaine Bear.” And it is exactly what the title suggests — a movie about a bear that eats a whole bunch of cocaine and goes on a rampage.
It’s nonsense, but Universal Pictures can go ahead and take my money on this one and, whether you want to admit it or not, they will probably get yours, too. This is just one of those situations where you have to take a look just to see how bad or, just maybe, how awesome this thing might be.
That is probably why the trailer went viral this week across social media.
The movie is, loosely, based on real life. Of course, some imagination was used because in the real life tale, the bear didn’t eat up the bag of cocaine dropped in a duffel bag from an air plane before going on a killing spree. Instead, the bear ate the cocaine — this happened back in 1985 — and overdid it. So, when authorities found the cocaine in the forest, they found a dead black bear next to it. The Associated Press reported ack then that the bear was discovered in the Chattahoochee National Forest next to about 40 ripped open packages of cocaine.
CNN reported that it was unclear just how much coke the bear ate, but that the AP said the haul was valued at around $2 million back then.
Another reason to watch: this was apparently the final film for the Ray Liotta.
So, again the trailer is out, and you can view it by clicking here, but beware that there is some strong language woven around, you know, a coked-up bear mauling people.
The movie is reportedly set for release in February.
