The Lassen County Sheriff's Office said Atencio and his girlfriend Ashly Ward were found in Humboldt County overnight.
The sheriff's office said more information on his recapture will be released later in the day on Wednesday.

The Lassen County Sheriff's Office is searching for an inmate who escaped from the Lassen County Jail on Friday.
Deputies say on December 2, correctional deputies found that 35-year-old Angelo Atencio II had escaped the facility.
Investigation showed that Atencio possibly squeezed through a portion of fencing that had been manipulated in the roof area of an exercise yard. Detectives also found that he was assisted by one or more people from outside of the facility as well as other inmates from the facility.
Deputies and Detectives later found that Atencio was assisted by his girlfriend, 33-year-old Ashly Ward of Susanville, California, who was not in custody at the time of the escape. Lassen County Sheriff's Office said it was arranged that Ward will pick up Atencio near the county jail.
According to Lassen County Sheriff's Office, Atencio was booked at the Lassen County Jail on May 15, 2022 on charges related to kidnapping, home invasion, robbery, false imprisonment, and parole violation.
Atencio is described as an Indian male, approximately 5'10" and weighs about 230 lbs. He has a medium to stocky build with black hair and brown eyes. Deputies said his last known address was on Kei-Deh St. in Susanville, California.
Ward is described as a light skinned black female, approximately 5'4" and weighs about 150 lbs. She has dyed her black hair red, and has brown eyes.
The Lassen County Sheriff's Office is working with multiple law enforcement agencies who are assisting with this investigation and there are active warrants of arrests for Atencio and Ward.
