EWING, N.J. (December 2, 2022) – First-year
Gabby Tyer finished first in the 500-yard freestyle to lead the Stevens Institute of Technology women's swimming team to first place through six events at the TCNJ Invitational Friday at the TCNJ Aquatic Center.
Tyer completed her swim in 5:18.24 to set a new collegiate personal-best, which also marked the second-fastest time in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) to date. First-year
Amanda LaFrancois took fourth in the event with a time of 5:21.85.
The Ducks totaled 287 points through six events to hold a 10-point lead over the hosting Lions, with the United States Merchant Marine Academy (193) and SUNY New Paltz (180) finishing in third and fourth place, respectively.
On the men's side, sophomore
Edward Platonov took fourth in the 'A' final of the 200-yard individual medley and first-year
Amedeo Bove took second in the 'B' final as the Ducks totaled 204 points to place third among the four competing teams through six events.

Adam Schneider said. "Our women's 500's were really exceptional, highlighted by
Gabby Tyer's win in that event. The men had some very nice IM's all around. Both our men and women had some great relays and we are looking and feeling good and excited for the remaining two days."

Will Stibor and Platonov jumped into fourth place in the MAC with their time of 1:27.44.
Sophomore
Sophie Patz was the top finisher for the Ducks in the 200 IM, finishing second with a time of 2:12.46, narrowly missing out on a new personal best (2:11.62 as last year's MAC Championships), but setting a new conference best.
Wong (25.18) and Yates (25.25) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 50 Free, while the 400 Medley Relay team of Wong, Bertolotti, first-year
Natalia Brunetti and Sokolik took third with a time of 4:04.65.
Up Next: Day two kicks off at 11 a.m. with the preliminary races with the finals beginning at 6. A total of 14 finals will be contested - seven for each gender. A link for live video is posted to StevensDucks.com.
