Earle & Dawkins Earn Top Three Finishes at Rutgers Holiday Classic

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook University women's track and field opened their indoor season at the Rutgers Holiday Classic hosted by Rutgers on Friday at Armory Track in New York City.
 
The performances of junior Alexandria Earle and junior Danella Dawkins helped highlight the Seawolves' success in the meet. Earle secured a third-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m and Dawkins placed third in the 60 meter hurdles with a final time of 8.98.
 
Graduate Tara Hauff and junior Jaelyn Davis both had outstanding performances at The Armory they both set a new personal record in their respective events. Hauff earned a new personal best in the 3000 meter, finishing in 10:17.58, which was good for sixth place. Davis set a new personal best in the 60 meter, finishing in 7.90, which was good for ninth place.
 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Dawkins and Earle both earned the highest finish for Seawolves throughout the meet. Dawkins came in third place in the 60 meter hurdles, with a time of 8.98. Earle came in third place in the high jump, with a score of 1.65 meters.
  • Earle was slightly shy of the program record in the high jump. The record is 1.70 meters, set by Dana Husband in 2016.
  • Sophomore Jada Hodge crossed the line in 7.84 to earn a sixth-place finish in the 60 meter dash.
  • Davis set a new personal best in the 60 meter, finishing in 7.90, which was good for ninth place. Graduate Dana Cerbone rounded out the top 15 for the Seawolves as she clocked in at 8.02.
  • Hauff earned a new personal best in the 3000 meter, finishing in 10:17.58, which was good for sixth place.
  • Three student-athletes finished in the top 10 for the 600 meter on Friday. Sophomore Enyero Omokeni finished in fourth place with a time of 1:39.10, graduate Siara Guevara finished in seventh with a time of 1:40.76 and freshman Kyra Franks finished in eighth with a time of 1:40.96.
  • Senior Aristea Franks earned a 10th-place finish in the 300 meter with a time of 41.76.

"Our track and field group got an opportunity to compete today after many weeks of training. It was a typical first meet of the season, we saw a little bit of everything, but overall, we had more positive performances than poor ones. Work to be done but excited about what the season ahead may bring," said head coach Andy Ronan.
 
NEXT UP
The Seawolves are back in action in the new year when they travel to Staten Island to compete in the Wagner Invite at Ocean Breeze on Friday, January 6.
