Kansas Jayhawk Fan College Football Viewing Guide - Championship Week

Running through the weekend slate to find games that are worth tuning in for.

The regular season is over for the Kansas Jayhawks, which means they get to start the long break coming up before their bowl game. But there are still a few pieces that need to be sorted out to clarify that bowl picture, which brings us to the conference championships happening this week. And if you are as much of a college football junkie as I am, that means you are going to be watching most of them.

With that in mind, we have a primer for the Kansas Football fan. A full slate of action that you can turn on that will whet that football appetite but also be relevant to your rooting interests. We'll pick a main game for the big TV, and then a second one for flipping during commercials or to stick on that laptop/tablet/second TV that we all know is sitting right there. And with the main screen not occupied by the Kansas game, there will be plenty of interesting games to fill that screen, and others that you will need to make sure you at least follow on your phone.

Friday

There are two conference championships on tonight, and both should be entertaining. And of course, one of them has College Football Playoff implications, meaning that we could see ripples through the bowl selections depending on the results.

North Texas Mean Green vs UT-San Antonio Roadrunners

Location: Alamodome, San Antonio, TX
Game Time: Friday, Dec 2nd at 6:30pm
TV Channel: CBS Sports Network
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: UTSA -8.5
O/U: 69.5

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

This one is somewhat intriguing, but it's hard to know what to expect here. Make sure to flip back and forth to this one to try and catch some big plays at least.

#11 Utah Utes vs #4 USC Trojans

Location: Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, NV
Game Time: Friday, Dec 2nd at 7:00pm
TV Channel: FOX
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: USC -2.5
O/U: 67.5

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

The Pac 12 hasn't actually been as awful as people thought it would be, and USC is looking to secure a spot in the CFP. But a loss here opens up the door for a few other teams that at least have an argument, all of whom are sitting home this weekend watching the action on the television as well.

Early Saturday

This timeslot has the marquee matchup of the weekend, and it probably isn't even close. So buckle in for a great start, and then hope that the rest of the day can live up to your expectations.

#10 Kansas State Wildcats vs #3 TCU Horned Frogs

Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
Game Time: Saturday, Dec 3rd at 11am
TV Channel: ABC
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: TCU -1.5
O/U: 61.0

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

It's the battle of the two best teams in the deepest conference in the country. Kansas State will be looking to get revenge on the Horned Frogs, and they hope to have the quarterback that starts the game healthy the entire time. Meanwhile, TCU should be in the college football playoff regardless of the outcome here, but they will want to win this one just to make sure.

Toledo Rockets vs Ohio Bobcats

Location: Ford Field, Detroit, MI
Game Time: Saturday, Dec 3rd at 11am
TV Channel: ESPN
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: NONE
O/U: NONE

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

This game doesn't have a line on every sportsbook, which means that enough people are baffled that this one could be a complete dud or wildly entertaining. If you like the mystery of not knowing what you are going to see, then by all means take a look.

Saturday Afternoon

We've got two major championships on the line in this timeslot, with one game that will be super competitive and another that will theoretically showcase a team playing some of the best football in the nation.

#14 LSU Tigers vs #1 Georgia Bulldogs

Location: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Game Time: Saturday, Dec 3rd at 11am
TV Channel: CBS
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: UGA -17.5
O/U: 52.0

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

I guess it's to see good football? LSU has been a very up and down team all year long, and Georgia has had way too many close calls to feel like they can just cruise into this game and win. While the Bulldogs are the more talented team undoubtedly, they are a shoe-in for the playoff no matter what happens in this game.

#22 UCF Knights vs #18 Tulane Green Wave

Location: Yulman Stadium, New Orleans, LA
Game Time: Saturday, Dec 3rd at 3:00pm
TV Channel: ABC
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: TUL -4.0
O/U: 56.5

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

With the exception of the matchup in the Big 12 Championship, this is probably the most evenly matched game on the entire weekend. Both of these teams have some big wins, and even though there is no College Football Playoff berth on the line, it's hard to imagine that the winner doesn't get an automatic berth in a New Year's Six game.

Honorable Mention: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers vs Troy Trojans, Fresno State Bulldogs vs Boise State Broncos

Saturday Evening

While none of these teams can change their CFP fate with a result here, Purdue could still greatly improve their bowl situation. Same with North Carolina, who likely wouldn't be picked as a New Year's Six at large.

#9 Clemson Tigers vs #23 North Carolina Tar Heels

Location: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
Game Time: Saturday, Dec 3rd at 7:00pm
TV Channel: ABC
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: CLEM -7.5
O/U: 63.0

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

Clemson hasn't looked as unbeatable this year as they have in the past, but North Carolina has looked somewhat questionable as well recently. But if you are watching football at this time, this is easily going to be the most entertaining matchup. It will likely be a close game throughout, so settle in for some fun football.

Purdue Boilermakers vs #2 Michigan Wolverines

Location: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, IN
Game Time: Saturday, Dec 3rd at 7:00pm
TV Channel: FOX
Live Stream: fuboTV (Start your free trial)
Line: MICH -16.5
O/U: 52.0

Why Jayhawk fans should watch:

This is the game to watch if you like to watch brutal beatdowns. The Big Ten West has been just awful as a whole, and Purdue got to this game because they managed to be the least terrible team in the bunch. But Michigan has had a few close calls this season, so it isn't entirely out of the question that they could stumble here.
