Santa helped flip the switch to light a 38-foot Christmas tree to ring in the holiday season at Glen Cove Hospital.
This is the third annual tree lighting and the first time since the pandemic started that the hospital brought back the event.
Children were treated with gifts from Santa.
The tree, nicknamed Rockefeller, is wrapped in 18,000 lights. Hospital administration says it means a lot for the entire city.
"It's a sense of trying to again just let people know that this is a destination for help," says Kerry Scanlon, the hospital's executive director. "But it also brings a little bit of joy…it's something to try to bring peace and tranquility during this time of year."
The hospital says they hope the tradition will continue.
