Storrs, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team fell to New Hampshire 4-0 Friday afternoon.Â
Period 1: The Huskies would start off the first period being aggressive on the offensive end. By the middle of the first period, UConn had six shots on goal to New Hampshire's three. The Huskies would continue to dominate offensively but could not find the answer to get past UNH goaltender, Nicky Harnett. UConn finished the first with 12 shots on goal, however the score would remain scoreless.Â
Period 2: UNH would catch up to speed with UConn in the second period with 11 total shots on goal. The Wildcats would get on the board first with eight minutes into the second. Jada Christian and Gabby Jones would set up Kelly Harty for the first goal of the day. Then, UNH would tack on a second goal with four minutes left scored by Emily Rickwood. The Wildcats would round out the second with a 2-0 lead.Â
Period 3: The Huskies would work to gain momentum in the third period as they earned a power play early in the period, but the Wildcats would kill the penalty. The momentum would stay on UNH's side, as it would get a third goal by Nicole Kelly to make it 3-0. Then, UNH would get an empty net goal and end the period with a 4-0 win. UConn would get chances to score, but never found a way to find the back of the net. UConn would lead in shots on goal with 28 to UNH's 20. Â
