Spring Hill gets a $275M manufacturing boost

Staff report

Good morning, everyone. This is reporter Rachel Wegner, here with your Daily Briefing.

Another $275 million investment by Ultium Cells will go into the expansion of a battery cell manufacturer in Spring Hill. The funding adds to the whopping $2.3 billion the company announced for the plant last year. Gov. Bill Lee shared the news about the new funding Friday.

The project, which is a joint venture between LE Energy Solution and General Motors, is expected to create 400 new jobs as it expands operations. Once it becomes full operational, it expects to employ 1,700 people in Maury County.

“As Tennessee continues to lead the automotive industry, we proudly welcome additional investment and job creation from companies around the globe," Lee said.
